GET THERE SAFER

The SafeWalk Program was fir st introduced to campus in Winter 2015 to ensure that each member of the Bishop’s community felt safe and comfortable walking home after dark. It provides an essential service to the student body on both weekends and weeknights by accompanying students to and from campus and the surrounding Lennoxville area. Students need only to contact Security and the SafeWalk two-person team will meet them at their location and walk them to their destination. The service is free of charge and students’ identities remain protected and con fi dential. SafeWalk endeavours to assure student safety on campus through partnering with other initiatives. Our teams verify that all Lite-Loan boxes containing fl ashlights are stocked. In addition, SafeWalk teams work in conjunction with Student Safety during events and weekends to guarantee the wellbeing of the student population. Another resource avail-able to students is FriendWalk on the SafeGaiter mobile application. FriendWalk is a virtual walk home, which allows students to send their location to a contact who can follow their location to ensure they arrive at their fi nal destination safely.
