The department also plays host to the NewPlays and TheatreActive festivals which fea ture shows directed, performed, and even written by our students. Students also have access to backstage tech-focussed cours es, to show you the ins and outs of running a professional-grade production! professional artists to our very own Bandeen Hall featuring with free admission for all students. Not convinced? The B.U. Singers Choir also puts on two spectacle shows each year dedicated to showcasing the stellar voices of B.U. and our surrounding community. MUSICAL THEATRE In other exciting news, the B.U. Musical Theatre program is fully up and running, with large scale pro ductions being staged each year and a plethora of classes to shine up your skills in a profession al-grade hands-on environment. Just this winter, I coordinated and staged the first ever Musical Theatre Concentration Recital at B.U., and it was a roaring success. We are constantly finding new ways for students to showcase their talent and hard work all while learning vital skills to succeed and stand out in their industry. MUSIC Nearest and dearest to me (being my primary field of study) is the B.U. Music Department. Students are in vited to participate – both as players and spectators – in concerts, open mic nights, and jam sessions hosted by the B.U. Music Society. These shows feature students performing all genres of music and, if that’s not exciting enough, the depart ment is home to the Musique Chez Nous concert series, which brings

The B.U. Film Festival (or, as we call it, BUFF) is a competi tion celebrating the creativity of student-made short films that are written, directed, acted, and filmed by students from any department. The submitted films are shown at a gala event in March and can subsequently be sent on to nation al film festivals and grant submis sion committees; not to mention it’s the perfect excuse to take a break from studying and rally your crew for a movie night out! Film students are often also given the chance to collaborate with other departments to film productions or events, giving them fantastic hands-on learning opportunities all year round.
