- FACULTY OF HUMANITIES - The humanities are a broad academic field encompassing the critical analysis and interpretation of human culture, ideas, values, and expressions. Investigating the ways that people make meaning of the world, humanities disciplines explore the full tapestry — past, present, and future — of history, literature, language, philosophy, religion, art, and other cultural forms. Courses in the humanities foster critical thinking, creativity, effective communication, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the human condition. ubishops.ca/hum
